Basketball Game Preview: Boulder City Eagles vs. Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons

The Boulder City Eagles will square off against the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Boulder City's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Doral Academy Red Rock has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Boulder City took on Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas on Friday. Boulder City snuck past Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas with a 51-47 win. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but the Eagles were the better team in the second half.

Boulder City found their leader in sophomore Makenzie Martorano, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Martorano is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Muelrath, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Boulder City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Doral Academy Red Rock was beaten by Western 48-20 on Thursday.

Doral Academy Red Rock's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Boulder City, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Boulder City against Doral Academy Red Rock in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 70-32 victory.
