The Sickles Gryphons''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 15-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Middleton. Sickles lost against Middleton in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-15 score last time.
Jace Hardwick and Angelo Amador, Sickles certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hardwick rushed for 134 yards, while Amador picked up 53 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Middleton found their leader in underclassman Joshua Balloon, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Balloon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Sickles' defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Middleton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Sickles will head out on the road to face off against Steinbrenner at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Middleton, they will be playing at home against King at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. King is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
