Aidan Rhoads and Jacob Fabbro were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Rhoads pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Fabbro tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Rhoads posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At bat, Rhoads went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Fabbro went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Rhoads has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layton Sheppard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Bentley Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Granville Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Tree of Life Christian entered their tilt with Liberty Christian Academy two weeks ago with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles.
Andrew Jackson was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Meshach Bishara, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Tree of Life Christian pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Granville Christian Academy, their record now sits at 12-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Granville Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tree of Life Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Granville Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Tree of Life Christian when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Granville Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
