Baseball Recap: Millard North Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Millard North had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Omaha North on Friday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cam Johnson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alex Buresh and Tanner Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Buresh went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Evans went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Buresh has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jackson Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Millard North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha North only posted an OBP of .167.

Millard North is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Omaha North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
