The Bolles Bulldogs will face off against the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Bulldogs fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over St. Johns Country Day on Monday.
Gabe Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, James McCranie and Denzel Del Valle Delgado did most of the damage at the plate: McCranie went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Del Valle Delgado scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Del Valle Delgado also racked up two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, everything went Ponte Vedra's way against Christ's Church Academy on Monday as Ponte Vedra made off with a 13-5 win.
Like Bolles, Ponte Vedra also got a great game from a two-way player: Aspen McAdoo. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. McAdoo was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Hunter Alba looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Ponte Vedra got a big performance out of Grady Hartman, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Dylan McAdoo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Bolles was able to grind out a solid victory over Ponte Vedra in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Will Bolles repeat their success, or does Ponte Vedra have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
