The Belen Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the St. Pius X Sartans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sartans. Belen has not had much luck with St. Pius X recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Belen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jasode Harris. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordi Rojo, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Belen has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for St. Pius X, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belen will face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. St. Pius X will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Grants at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Grants has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
