The Schulenburg Shorthorns's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They strolled past Louise with points to spare, taking the game 43-24. The win was just what Schulenburg needed coming off of a 62-30 defeat in their prior match.
Schulenburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Grace Schramek out in front who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Alana Herzik was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Louise lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kirsten Ochoa. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Ochoa hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Louise struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Schulenburg posted 11 assists.
Schulenburg's victory bumped their record up to 6-23. As for Louise, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Ganado the next time they take the court. Schulenburg will head out to face Ganado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Louise will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
