Gordon Lee's Zachary Cobb recorded the longest rushing play in A Region 6A this season in his game against Whitefield Academy last week. Cobb scampered for 62 yards on the play and finished with 117 on the day as his team bested the Wolfpack.
Gordon Lee extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Whitefield Academy, 19-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Christian Heritage's dynamic duo of Trevor Brown and Nich Bartley proved tough for Mt. Zion to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brown threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns and Bartley had 100 yards receiving. Michael McKinney helped Christian Heritage's passing attack out by catching two balls for 37 yards.
The Lions' Brown and Bartley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 910 yards this season, while Bartley, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 21 catches for 339 yards. Adam Vandiver from Gordon Lee leads the league in rushing with 470 yards.
The top two teams in A Region 6A will face off this week when first place Gordon Lee takes on second place Christian Heritage. Last week, the Trojans beat Jimmy Fields's team, while Christian Heritage bested the Eagles.
There should be lots of points scored when Preston Poag's team and Gordon Lee face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Lions comes in having scored 174 this season, while the Trojans have scored 147. Christian Heritage scored 28 points last week as it topped Mt. Zion.
The Lions and Keith Holloway's team played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Lions eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory. Brown ran for 25 yards in the win.
