Basketball Game Preview: Christ School Greenies vs. Asheville School (Independent) Blues

Christ School and Asheville School (Independent) are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Christ School Greenies will be playing at home against the Asheville School (Independent) Blues at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Asheville School (Independent) will be up against a hot Christ School squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 24. Christ School blew past Rabun Gap-Nacoochee 79-55 on Tuesday. Given the Greenies' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in North Carolina, while the Eagles are ranked 165th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Christ School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Collins led the charge by going 9 for 13 en route to 19 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Collins a new career-high in points. Dacen Petty was another key player, going 6 of 7 on his way to 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Asheville School (Independent)). They claimed a resounding 83-53 victory over York Prep. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blues.

Christ School's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.9 points. As for Asheville School (Independent), their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Everything came up roses for Christ School against Asheville School (Independent) when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured an 84-45 win. In that game, Christ School amassed a halftime lead of 51-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
