The Loyalsock Township Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Montoursville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
After a string of four wins, Loyalsock Township's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Troy 44-7. Loyalsock Township was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Despite the loss, Loyalsock Township got a solid performance out of Jamaire Harden, who gained 125 total yards.
Meanwhile, Montoursville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 35-7 loss at the hands of Selinsgrove. While losing is never fun, Montoursville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Selinsgrove is ranked 36th).
Montoursville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jimmy Mussina, who threw for 233 yards and a touchdown, and Nate Fisher who gained 88 total yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Loyalsock Township to 6-3 and Montoursville to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Loyalsock Township against Montoursville when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyalsock Township since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
