Goshen hasn't had much luck against Samson recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Goshen has given up an average of 17.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Goshen fell victim to Zion Chapel and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to the Rebels.
Meanwhile, Samson came tearing into Monday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 20-19 W against the Gamecocks.
Molly Glisson and Ally Zorn did most of the damage at the plate: Glisson went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Zorn went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Zorn a new career-high. Holly Warren was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Samson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Samson now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Goshen, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Goshen has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Samson struggles in that department as they've averaged .531. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Goshen suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Samson when the teams last played back in March. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
