Emma Franklin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
Even though they lost, D'Iberville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ocean Springs struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to Greene County. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 9, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Bea Buice - 2027 put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Buice - 2027 was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Devin Bourgeois - 2025 was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
D'Iberville's record now sits at 6-8. As for Bay, their record is now 5-13.
Everything went D'Iberville's way against Bay when the teams last played back in February, as D'Iberville made off with a 14-5 win. Does D'Iberville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
