The Portal Panthers entered their tilt with the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. Portal blew past Emanuel County Institute 73-39 at home on Tuesday. Portal has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joseph Thomas, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Marion Tremble, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Portal's win was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Emanuel County Institute, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portal will take on Jenkins County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Emanuel County Institute, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Montgomery County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday.
