Basketball Recap: Brady Rynd Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat West Middlesex

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mercer, Cochranton was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-44 victory over the West Middlesex Big Reds. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cochranton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Rynd, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Rynd has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Walker Carroll, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Despite the defeat, West Middlesex saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Roman Golub went 8 of 11 on his way to 16 points and four steals. Golub is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of John Partridge, who posted 14 points.

Cochranton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for West Middlesex, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Cochranton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-54 loss against Conneaut Area on the 2nd. As for West Middlesex, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-47 defeat against Brookfield on the 4th.
