The Rockford Auburn Knights came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 56-48 victory over Belvidere on Friday. For Rockford Auburn, this counts as revenge for the 59-56 defeat the Bucs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Leading Rockford Auburn to victory were Ava Gray and Alivia Brown. Gray scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Brown almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Destiny Robinson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Belvidere's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Sternquist, who scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sternquist has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Labeau, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.
Rockford Auburn's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-17. As for Belvidere, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.
Rockford Auburn will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Byron's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Belvidere, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Marengo will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
