Goshen hasn't had much luck against Northridge recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The RedHawks will be playing at home against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Goshen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Goshen nor La Porte made it on the board until the fifth inning. The RedHawks fell just short of the Slicers by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the RedHawks couldn't push the score so high this time.
Quinn Shreiner Landes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Shreiner Landes wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Cline, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Cline has brought in this season.
Meanwhile, Northridge didn't have quite enough to beat Jimtown on Saturday and fell 4-3.
Northridge's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. As for Goshen, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Goshen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Goshen took their win against Northridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the RedHawks repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
