The Nitro Wildcats will challenge the Wirt County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If Nitro beats Wirt County with 12 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Wildcats came out on top against Elk Valley Christian by a score of 12-9 on Friday. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
McKenzie Hyatt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hyatt was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoe Hyatt, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Karley Evans, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Nitro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wirt County). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Paden City a 20-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Like Nitro, Wirt County also got a great game from a two-way player: Adi Smith. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Smith was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kylee Ross was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Neff, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
The win was the third in a row for Nitro, bringing their record up to 6-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Wirt County, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
