After flying high against the Baxter Springs Lions last Friday, the Columbus Titans came back down to earth. Columbus fell 62-52 to College Heights Christian on Wednesday. Columbus was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as College Heights Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Columbus' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katy Mooney, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Mooney hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Ava Harman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Columbus now has a losing record at 4-5. As for College Heights Christian, the win got them back to even at 6-6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will take on Riverton at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Riverton and Columbus are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for College Heights Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against New Covenant Academy at 6:00 p.m. New Covenant Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
