Clearview is 0-2 against Washington Township since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Clearview Pioneers will be playing at home against the Washington Township Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clearview has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Washington Township will arrive with four straight wins.
Last Friday, Clearview took a serious blow against Mainland Regional, falling 49-20. While losing is never fun, Clearview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Mainland Regional is ranked ninth).
Obrian Brown put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 248 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Brown was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards.
Meanwhile, Washington Township's game on Friday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 29-22 victory over Shawnee.
Washington Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Perez led the charge by picking up 160 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jared Dzierzgowski was another key contributor, rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
Clearview's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.67 points per game. Washington Township has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Clearview was dealt a bruising 45-0 defeat at the hands of Washington Township when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Clearview have more luck at home instead of on the road?
