The Vance County Vipers can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Durham School of the Arts 72-27 at home. Vance County's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for NaZiya Vandergrift, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jakhiyah Evans, who scored seven points along with eight assists and eight steals.
The win (which was Vance County's seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Durham School of the Arts, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
Vance County will challenge Southern Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Durham is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Vance County a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Durham School of the Arts, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-48 loss vs. Orange on the 12th.
