The St. Francis Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Seaside Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Francis is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
St. Francis struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Breakers had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. St. Francis took a serious blow against the Breakers, falling 81-37. While losing is never fun, St. Francis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1212th, while the Breakers are ranked 597th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sam Braun, who scored 19 points. Joseph Rose was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
St. Francis struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-4) when they just don't pass the ball.
Meanwhile, Seaside pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Pacific Grove 65-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Seaside still had to take the loss.
St. Francis has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season. As for Seaside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.
St. Francis suffered a grim 67-47 defeat to the Spartans when the teams last played back in January. Can St. Francis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
