The Canby Cougars were the 45-40 winner over the Oregon City Pioneers when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Canby fell to Oregon City 55-50. Canby has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Canby still got an impressive performance from Jack Brauckmiller, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Trevin Slagle, who scored eight points.
Canby's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Oregon City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canby will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against South Albany at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. Oregon City will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Canby at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th.
