The Hughson Huskies suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 76-50 defeat at the hands of Ripon. While losing is never fun, Hughson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 915th, while Ripon is ranked 358th).
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jc Lupercio, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lupercio has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deagan Bell, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Ripon was led to victory by Marcus Madoski and Jack Schoolland. Madoski scored 17 points along with two steals, while Schoolland dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Ty Herrin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Hughson has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Ripon, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Hughson will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Escalon at 7:00 p.m. As for Ripon, they will head out on the road to take on Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ripon Christian is on a five-game streak of home wins, Ripon a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
