The Round Valley Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Point Arena 86-43. Round Valley lost against Point Arena in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-48 score last time.
Fernando Lopez was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-10 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds for Point Arena. The game was Lopez's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dauki Bechtol, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds.
Round Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Point Arena, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Round Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Point Arena at 7:00 p.m. on January 16, 2024. Point Arena won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hoopa Valley at 2:00 p.m. on December 16th.
