Lake City is 2-8 against Coeur d'Alene since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lake City Timberwolves will head out on the road to challenge the Coeur d'Alene Vikings at 5:30 p.m. Lake City is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 13 games.
Lake City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 85-37 win over Lewiston at home. Lake City has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 32 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, even though Post Falls scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, Coeur d'Alene still came out on top. Coeur d'Alene took their game against Post Falls 75-62. Given Coeur d'Alene's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Post Falls is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coeur d'Alene can attribute much of their success to Maddie Mitchell, who scored 22 points, and Kelsey Carroll, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carroll has scored all season. Brookslee Colvin was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Lake City's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Coeur d'Alene, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Lake City beat Coeur d'Alene 54-45 in their previous matchup last Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
