The Catholic Central Crusaders were the 55-41 winner over the Buckeye Local Panthers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Catholic Central took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckeye Local on Thursday. Catholic Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Catholic Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Rohde, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anna Arai, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
It was another big night for Brynn McKeever, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds for Buckeye Local. Pamela Kandrach was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 20 rebounds.
Catholic Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Buckeye Local, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will challenge East Liverpool at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. East Liverpool is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Buckeye Local will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Caldwell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday.
