Mercy is 1-9 against Sacred Heart since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Sunday. The Mercy Jaguars will look to defend their home court against the Sacred Heart Valkyries at 3:30 p.m. Mercy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Sacred Heart is ranked third).
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Mercy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-39 loss to Ryle. Mercy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart entered their tilt with George Rogers Clark with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Sacred Heart came out on top against George Rogers Clark by a score of 61-49 on Friday.
Sacred Heart got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was ZaKiyah Johnson out in front who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Reagan Bender was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Mercy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Sacred Heart, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Mercy took a serious blow against Sacred Heart in their previous meeting back in January, falling 69-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Johnson, who scored 22 points along with six assists and six steals. Now that Mercy knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
