Basketball Recap: Winamac Sets Scoring Season-High Against Frankfort

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winamac). They blew past the Frankfort Hot Dogs, posting a 66-15 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Hot Dogs are ranked 386th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Winamac's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Popejoy, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. Popejoy has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kandace Kroft, who went 6 of 15 en route to 18 points along with seven boards and five assists.

Winamac smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Winamac has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Frankfort, their loss was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Winamac didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-35 defeat against Rossville on the 3rd. As for Frankfort, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 40-12 loss against North Newton on the 3rd.
