Softball Recap: Woodbridge Wins Going Away Against Forest Park

Woodbridge never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past the Forest Park Bruins 6-0. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Brooke Dutton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bobbi Tate, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Carrigan Bilock also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Woodbridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Forest Park, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

Woodbridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Forest Park, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Hylton at 6:00 p.m. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season.
