It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Walnut Mustangs can now relate to. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mariners on Friday. Walnut's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Walnut still got an impressive performance from Demetrius Stampley, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Walnut's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for St. Monica, they have yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 11-3 record.
Walnut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Monica will head out on the road to face off against Sweetwater at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sweetwater knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully St. Monica likes a good challenge.
