Jersey is 2-8 against Waterloo since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jersey 3.5, Waterloo 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Jersey couldn't beat Belleville East on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Panthers came up short against the Lancers, falling 16-5. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this game were averaging 3.47 runs allowed.
Anna Kribs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleah Derrick, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Waterloo had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Aidan Dintelman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sam Juelfs was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mallory Thompson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Jersey's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Waterloo, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Jersey hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Waterloo struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Jersey might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Waterloo when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
