Etowah is 2-8 against River Ridge since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Etowah Eagles' road trip will continue as they head out to face the River Ridge Knights at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Etowah beat Creekview 41-37.
Megan Reed continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Savannah Aparicio was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
In what's become a running theme this season, River Ridge gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Rome as River Ridge made off with a 59-38 victory. The win was familiar territory for River Ridge who now have 13 in a row.
Allie Sweet was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Pearl, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Etowah's victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for River Ridge, they pushed their record up to 21-4 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Wednesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Reed and Kayla Cleaveland. Reed has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 12.5 points, 1.9 blocks, and 1.2 steals. For her part, Cleaveland has averaged 14.3 points, 1.1 blocks, and 1.4 steals.
Etowah took a serious blow against River Ridge when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 70-35. Can Etowah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
