The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 60-56 victory over Montgomery Academy on Tuesday. The victory was just what Stanhope Elmore needed coming off of a 68-48 defeat in their prior match.
Despite the defeat, Montgomery Academy had strong showings from Brewer Welch, who scored 15 points along with 9 assists and 8 rebounds, and D.J. Vinson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Vinson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Stanhope Elmore's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Montgomery Academy, they have yet to win a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanhope Elmore will take on JAG at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. JAG is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Montgomery Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Montgomery Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
