Football Game Preview: Tarboro Vikings vs. Wilson Prep Tigers

Tarboro is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Wilson Prep is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tarboro Vikings will host the Wilson Prep Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tarboro's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last eight contests.

Tarboro is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pender 50-0. Considering the Vikings have won 11 matches by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Mason Satterfield and Caiden Everette. Satterfield rushed for 121 yards on only six carries while Everette rushed for 109 yards on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards Satterfield has posted since back in October of 2023.

Tarboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 373 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 196 rushing yards in ten consecutive games.

Tarboro wouldn't let Pender keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Tyler Powell was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.

Meanwhile, Wilson Prep strolled past Lakewood with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 36-17.

Wilson Prep's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Lakewood's QB won't forget Jordan Hamm anytime soon given he sacked him three times.

Wilson Prep's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Tarboro, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 12-1.

Friday's contest might be decided in the on the ground. Tarboro has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 306.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wilson Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 355.2 rushing yards. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
