The Fairfield Prep Jesuits can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 37-27 victory over Hamden. Fairfield Prep's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
Leading Fairfield Prep to victory were Finbar Malloy and Tyler Smith. Malloy picked up 74 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Smith threw for 128 yards and four touchdowns.
Although Hamden took the loss, they still got scores from Josh Miller, Julian Barajas, and Andrew Revels.
Fairfield Prep's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Hamden, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5.
Fairfield Prep will play host again and welcome Xavier, where kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Xavier will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Hamden, they will head out on the road to face off against Shelton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shelton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hamden in Connecticut (Shelton is ranked eighth, while Hamden is ranked 42nd).
