Baseball Recap: Clearfield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kearns

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clearfield). They blew past the Kearns Cougars 11-1 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Brody Unck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Colt Chambers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matt Rudman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Clearfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns only posted a batting average of .200.

Clearfield's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8. As for Kearns, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clearfield will host Bonneville at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
