Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact the Overton Eagles proved on Saturday. They took down Bertrand 62-48. For Overton, this counts as revenge for the 42-33 defeat Bertrand walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Overton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock McCarter, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Luther, who scored 16 points.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jc Kehr, who scored nine points. Thunder Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Overton's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Bertrand, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Overton and Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] will face off on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bertrand will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Medicine Valley at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
