Grain Valley is 8-2 against Truman since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will take on the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Grain Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Fort Osage as they made off with an 11-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Truman). They put the hurt on Raytown with a sharp 21-3 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Cade Pleacher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Hayden Rogers was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Patricio Yanez-Perry was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Truman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Grain Valley's record is now 15-12. As for Truman, their record now sits at 12-13.
Everything went Grain Valley's way against Truman in their previous matchup back in April, as Grain Valley made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
