The Fairland Dragons will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Gilmour Academy Lancers at 9:00 a.m. on January 15th. Gilmour Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fairland, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, Fairland gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They breezed by Gallia Academy on the road to the tune of 85-21. Given Fairland's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Gallia Academy is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailey Russell led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six steals. Bree Allen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Gilmour Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 37-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Vincent-St. Mary. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gilmour Academy has scored all season.
Fairland's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Gilmour Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
