The Chaparral Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Arapahoe on Saturday as Chaparral made off with a 58-34 win. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Arapahoe is ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Gavin Carter, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Chaparral's points. Arapahoe lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rifky Sedhom, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Pramenko, who scored seven points.
Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Arapahoe, they bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Chaparral will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Horizon at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th. One thing working in Horizon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. Arapahoe and Thomas Jefferson will face off at 3:30 p.m. on December 14th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Allowing an average of 53.7 points per game, Thomas Jefferson has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
