The Strathmore Spartans had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Lincoln 41-15. The win was nothing new for Strathmore as they're now sitting on six straight.
Jacob Poole was his usual excellent self, rushing for 141 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 55 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Colunga, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Lincoln lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Jamelle Newman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Newman hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games.
Strathmore is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Lincoln, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Strathmore will face off against Bell Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bell Gardens is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
