The Antwerp Archers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 68-45 margin over Hicksville. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Antwerp has managed all season.
It was another big night for Landon Brewer, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. The game was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Altimus, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Hicksville saw an underclassman step up: Garrett Turnbull scored 21 points. Brayden Slattery was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Antwerp pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Hicksville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Antwerp will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Edgerton at 7:45 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Edgerton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 650th, while Antwerp is ranked 151st). Hicksville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Edon at 6:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Edon is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
