The Lodi Flames will venture away from home to square off against the St. Mary's Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lodi is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Lodi is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Kimball just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to the Jaguars.
Isabella Pantoja was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's hadn't done well against Lincoln recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rams skirted past the Trojans 6-4. Six seems to be a good number for the Rams as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Ava Arucan tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Harris, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Aliana Basto was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for St. Mary's and bumps their season record up to 16-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Lodi, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9-1.
St. Mary's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Lodi has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for St. Mary's, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Lodi keep running through batters, or will the Rams buck the trend?
Lodi skirted past St. Mary's 6-5 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flames since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
