The St. John Woodchucks won against the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets last Thursday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. St. John walked away with a 57-49 victory over New Rockford-Sheyenne. Given St. John's advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while New Rockford-Sheyenne is ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alani Morin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kaycee Desjarlais was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for St. John and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for New Rockford-Sheyenne, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
St. John will face off against North Prairie co-op [Rolla/Rolette] at TBD on Thursday. New Rockford-Sheyenne will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Velva at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Velva is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
