The Springstead Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springstead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Springstead's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Central 13-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

ELLA ANN CEPHUS and KAYLANA LYONS did most of the damage at the plate: CEPHUS went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs, while LYONS scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was KAMIE POND, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Springstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted an OBP of .167.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wiregrass Ranch and River Ridge meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. Wiregrass Ranch skirted past River Ridge 9-7.

Aubrey Zechmann was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Aurora Thompson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Springstead's record now sits at 4-1. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their record now sits at 6-3.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Springstead hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Wiregrass Ranch struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Springstead suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Wiregrass Ranch when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Springstead avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
