Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Emporia). They secured a 36-30 W over the Independent Panthers on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Emporia's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Independent, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emporia will host Hayden on Friday. The timing isn't great for Emporia: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Hayden has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Independent, they will welcome Medicine Lodge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
