SAN MARCOS, Texas -
Steele (Cibolo, Texas) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 51-7 win over San Marcos (Texas).
The Knights scored 21 points in the first quarter. Steele scored on a touchdown pass by
LG Williams to
D'Angelo Wallace, a Williams touchdown pass to
Jaylen Harris and a touchdown run by
Justin Stockton.
After taking the lead on a Williams touchdown pass to Wallace in the first quarter, SHS was up 38-7 at the half.
The Cibolo school expanded its lead to 44 points entering the fourth quarter. The Knights scored two times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.
Steele's most effective player was Williams. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
San Marcos' only touchdown came on a pass in the second quarter.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 48-14 win for SHS.
The defeat comes as a step back for San Marcos, who notched a 29-8 victory over University in its previous outing. The win brought Steele's winning streak to four games.
