Lincoln Southwest and Lincoln Northeast faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. The Silver Hawks put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 35-13 win. The victory continues a trend for the Silver Hawks in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won three in a row.

Luke Mitchell had a dynamite game, rushing for 159 yards and three scores on only 12 carries. Those 159 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thatcher Shelton, who rushed for 33 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lincoln Southwest was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 400 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 63.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 233.
Lincoln Southwest's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Evan Robinson and Tanner Schroder, who racked up four sacks between them. Schroder has become a key player for Lincoln Southwest: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one sack, but 0-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Bellevue West never let their opponents score on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 65-0 win over South Sioux City. The Thunderbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 49 points or more this season.
Lincoln Southwest better keep an eye on Will Anderson. He was instrumental in Bellevue West's win, throwing for 238 yards and five touchdowns on perfect 13-for-13 passing. Thanks to that big game, Anderson is now up to 19 passing touchdowns on the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Green, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Bellevue West, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Adrian Wilson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Lincoln Southwest picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Bellevue West, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Things could have been worse for Lincoln Southwest, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-14 loss to Bellevue West in their previous matchup back in October of 2024.
