The Greenbrier Wolfpack will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Coffee Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Greenbrier beat Statesboro 57-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given Greenbrier's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Statesboro is ranked 48th).
Greenbrier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackson Jennings led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Garstang, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Coffee lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Irwin County, but it's fair to say they've redeemed themselves given the result of 5's matchup. Coffee was the clear victor by a 69-46 margin over Irwin County.
Greenbrier's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Coffee, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season.
Greenbrier and Coffee were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January, but Greenbrier came up empty-handed after a 63-62 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Coffee's Marquavious Bussey, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Now that Greenbrier knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
