Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Preble Shawnee walked away with it. They blew past the Arcadia Redskins 54-26 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Arrows, who have now won nine games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Preble Shawnee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Morton, who threw for 178 yards and four touchdowns on only seven passes, and also rushed for 122 yards and one score on only 12 carries. That's the most passing touchdowns Morton has posted since back in October of 2024. Preble Shawnee's leading receiver Caleb Blankenship was Morton's top target yet again, picking up 178 receiving yards and four TDs.
Preble Shawnee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Morton, Blankenship, and Jacob Carter picked up one apiece. Morton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Preble Shawnee and bumps their season record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points over those games. As for Arcadia, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9.
Coming up, Preble Shawnee will square off against Indian Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Arrows' defense better be ready for this one: the Lakers have averaged an impressive 31.3 points per game this season. Arcadia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
